Great place to unwind. Excellent modern facilities and great location. Lots of interesting nature including watching the reef sharks off the jetty.
Snorkelling – great fun and plenty to see on our pristine home reef. Access is straight off the beach! We also run trips to other local islands and reefs to see a great variety of marine life. Mask, tube and fins available free of charge. Check out the nearby fantastic Soltai 61 fishing boat wreck or the sunken WWII USA Lightning P38 fighter.
Hill walking – discover Vangunu. This large volcanic island close to Nggatirana is a mecca for naturalists and conservationists. In particular Vangunu is known for its rare monkey faced flying foxes and unique vika giant tree rat. Check out the prehistoric stone carvings on Rondo Hill or spend a day down at Zaira (weather and sea permitting) and visit the turtle hatchery and the Zaira Community Resource Management Area as featured on BBC TV. If you are fighting fit, try a walk up Mount Vangunu, the 1040m high volcano.
Picnic on the reef islands – we are in easy reach of many interesting islands. Take a packed lunch, snorkel, relax and enjoy lunch.
Kayaking – explore the Nono and Marovo lagoons by kayak. Our modern plastic kayaks with buoyance tanks are free to use by guests.
Local village visits – Experience real village life – and visit Mbopo (just ten minutes) or Zaira (around forty minutes, access dependent upon weather). Talk with local people and hear their stories. We’d like to take you to Halisi – just across the water – and visit their schools. These small schools are important for education in the area. Any donations of children’s English language books (age 6 to 16) or other educational materials are always very welcome.
Or just relax – swim from our sheltered beaches or read. We have a large selection of books and each bungalow has a roomy covered veranda with table and chairs. Each unit is equipped with Australian 10 Amp 3 pin sockets for charging phones, tablets and laptops etc.
